Kari Lake, a former Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate, has officially submitted paperwork to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), announcing her bid for the U.S. Senate.
After months of “seriously considering,” Ms. Lake confirmed her intentions for a 2024 Senate campaign last week to The Wall Street Journal. Her campaign filed the necessary paperwork on Tuesday, a week before her scheduled public announcement on Oct. 10.

Ms. Lake’s goal is to secure the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.). She has emphasized the need for “a senator in there who is going to fight back and put America first.â EpochTimes
The former news anchor lost to now-Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) last year, drawing attention as a Trump-aligned candidate who was among the partyâs most prominent election deniers running for office. Lake has not accepted the results of the 2022 gubernatorial election.
While some polls have shown Lake leading Republicans in a hypothetical primary, her candidacy could prove more of a challenge in the November general election.
Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb (R), a right-wing sheriff and an ally of former President Donald J. Trump, has already announced a run for Sinemaâs seat. Former Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters was reportedly weighing a run but has not made an unofficial announcement. The Hill
The incumbent, Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who left the Democratic Party last year to become an independent, has not confirmed whether she will run for re-election, but a prominent Democrat, Representative Ruben Gallego, is already challenging her.Â
